The national pass rate is 87.98%.  A total of 40,325 boys and 34,012 girls took the exam from Tamil Nadu, and girls scored 99.14%, which was higher than boys (98.4%). Chennai region was ranked third in the country after Trivandrum and Vijayawada regions with a pass percentage of 98.47. The Chennai region includes the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Daman and Diu.
